Yes, as if the economy wasn’t bad enough a 40 of Mickeys has gone up 25% from $1.99 to $2.49. It is a sad day when beer goes up but there is no cost of living increase. 25% holy cow huh?

Tough times, How do you catch a buzz when broke?

During these tough times catching a buzz can be difficult. Scotch is out of the loop because of cost although efficient you may need a friend to go in on a bottle with you. The good news is that a bottle will last you more than one day. If it does only last you one day then you have a problem and need to seek group therapy or switch back to beer.
Speaking of beer the best bang for your buck right now is Mickey’s Big Mouth. You can get a 40 for only $1.99. That is less than 5¢ per ounce. So if you only have a couple of bucks a 40 of mickeys will do the trick. Now I have been using this philosophy since times got hard and now a 40 just doesn’t do the trick anymore. The good news is that for an extra buck so $2.99 total you can get a four pack of 16 ounce cans of Mickeys. This makes that extra 24 ounces only $1 more. In the end you get an extra 4 ounces for your hard earned buck. This may not seem like a lot and of course it is in a can so the taste test I leave up to you but it does bring the price down to right around 4.5¢ per ounce. 64 ounces will take care of any economic trouble you have may and you can share with friends if you choose without getting slobber on your share.
As for scotch, stick with Clan McGregor scotch at right around $17 per bottle you will get a bang for your buck and if you add a little ice you will find that your bottle will go a lot further. This is also the best way to share with friends. I miss the days of Dalwhinnie on the rocks but those days will be here again. Until then Mickeys is the best bang for your buck.

A Second Bill of Rights

I just finished watching Michael Moore’s new film Capitalism: A Love Story. He as usual brings up many questions about the economy and the way our country is so against socialism as opposed to Capitalism.
Anyway to make a long story short he brings up a second bill of rights that was originally proposed by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Looking at these rights they are what I feel our country should stand for. They are rights that will drive the human race forward.
These evident rights are:
- The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation
- The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation
- The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living
- The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad
- The right of every family to a decent home
- The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health
- The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment
- The right to a good education
To quote a Roosevelt “America’s own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens.”…
I highly suggest the movie. It is an eye opener. How does a 3 page unaccountable 700 billion dollar bill was passed in days to save banks but we can’t get a 2000 page bill which has checks and balances in place to give health care to citizens.
Screwed up world I guess…

I don’t mind them being there. I mean I would rather take money from the right when they are pushing crap than I would from the left when they are fighting for something I believe.
